I STOPPED VYTORIN AFTER 10 DAYS AND SWITCHED TO OMEGA 3 AND RED YEAST RICE. THE TWITCHING CONTINUED UNTIL I BEGAN TAKING COENZYME Q 10 2 MONTHE AFTER STARTING THE OMEGA 3/VYTORIN NO FURTHER TWITCHING AFTER 2 WKS OF TAKING THE COQ10. I SUSPECT EVEN THE RED YEAST RICE CAN CAUSE TWITCHING SINCE IT IS STRUCTURALLY AND FUNCTIONALLY SIMILAR TO LOVASTATIN. ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT? HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE RED YEAST?

I've read that the red yeast still contains some form of statins. I'd say it is no different from the other statin drugs.

I called the company (N3 Oceanic, Inc.) that supplied the red yeast rice and was told there was no statin in their product.
