General safety regarding prescription drug (IGNORED)

The reason I got interested in this subject because am a victim with a drug called VYTORIN. My doctor is partly at fault and also the drug company. My diagnosis for taking these drug adverse side effects are all serious. At this time no one want to help me to pursue this matter or help me with my suffering and my future from the side effect is very painful and finally the prognosis is death. All doctor I seen either will start arguing with me so I will not come back or very tied lip. WHY the SYSTEM is permitted this to happen. What a list!

Dear telxpert...

In short, I had problems with Lipitor over ten years ago, after one month of usage. I vowed not to take statins again. 18 months ago, I got talked into taking Red Yeast Rice, because it was a "smaller dose" of statin. Not so. One month in, severe peripheral neuropathy. In the last eighteen months, also severe fatigue, muscle weakness, tendonitis. Every time there is a new problem, I wonder, could this be related to statins?? I was very healthy before this. What happened to me that sent me to the cardiologist wasn't my heart, or my lipids, but a bad reaction to MSG (which I now avoid like the plague).

So I understand your frustration. What I have learned is that most allopathic (regular medical) doctors don't have a clue. Their tool boxes are mostly made up of pharmaceuticals, and they treat nearly everyting with drugs...they don't have much else to offer. Many don't even have the time to listen, and they immediately become defensive if you have problems beyond the usual...I back up and look at the bigger picture...I listen to the growing lists of adverse effects for most of the drugs that are advertized on TV...like "death," for goodness sake! Who would take drugs that kill you? Who would make them and sell them? This is the illness model. Illness...drugs. Illness...drugs. And the drug companies let the money jingle in their pockets all the way to the bank.

Am I cynical? You bet!

What about a wellness model?

That being said, all of us here are praying for the day that there are actually specialists who will understand us, and will be able to offer some help. What I love about Dr. Graveline's site is the validation. We all are sharing what works for each of us, we learn to do research, to get smart, to advocate for ourselves when we do have to use the medical system.

What has helped me is to learn from Dr. Graveline and the other docs on the site. Then to get as smart as I can about my own wellness. This I have done with the help of some excellent naturopaths. I have refined the supplements I take, and continue to refine. I try and stay as active as I can, refining my exercise and work, listening to my body.

Eighteen months in, I am better, but not over all of it. I understand that the destruction caused by statins can create chronic problems...iat is discouraging, to be sure.

Wishing you a better year, and glad you are on here!
