stopped taking Pravachol and Aricept

I just found out my mother (82) has stopped taking all of her meds. She was taking Pravachol and Aricept. She is in great distress. She went back to the doctor and confirmed through a pill count that she was not taking these drugs. My Dad wasn't supervising as he should have. How long will it take for these drugs to take effect again? I don't want her to take the Pravachol since I think this was the start of the Alzheimer's. How do I convince the doctor to stop this horrible statin drug? She takes ten meds daily all related to high cholesterol, diabetes, and Alzheimer's. She also take a mild Lexapro prescription.
