Suffering statin side effects in the Uk.

Postby bibbz » Fri Sep 01, 2006 6:19 pm

Hi Everyone,
I am a new member on this wonderfull forum., and have suffered the side effects of statins for years. Unlike many of you I do have a history of heart desease since I was 30 i am now 55. Unfortunately I dont understand the US measure of cholesterol in the blood, as over here in the uk the norm is now set at 4.5. Can anyone explain how this translates to US levels and vice versa. I have a lot more to say on the subject but it is now midnight over here and time for my bed. so I would be very grate full if you could help and I will be back soon.
Thankyou all for sharing your experiences. Bye for now x

To convert mmol/l of HDL or LDL cholesterol to mg/dl, multiply by 39. To convert mg/dl of HDL or LDL cholesterol to mmol/l, divide by 39.

So 4.5 in the UK would be 175 in the US.

200 in the US would be 5.1 in the UK.
