Hydrophilic Pravachol no guarantee of CNS effect

Postby spacedoc » Sat Oct 15, 2005 10:21 am

We now have hundreds of cases of transient global amnesia and tens of thousands of cases of extreme forgetfulness, confusion and disorientation associated primarily with the use the stronger lipophilic statins but Pravachol’s contribution is significant. The point must be made that although less likely to cause cognitive impairment, such impairment can occur. No longer can physicians claim ignorance of the many adverse side effects of the statin drugs. Prescribing physicians must now wake up to the reality that what they have been told by overzealous pharmaceutical “reps” over the past decade may not have been the whole truth. My purpose is not to malign a drug or class of drugs, which are of such established benefit to public health. I wish only to present the true legacy of Pravachol to physicians and their patients with the warning that Pravachol’s hydrophilic status is no guarantee of freedom from cognitive side effects.

Why haven't you had a posted message here since October 2005?

The message board began in October 2005 as something new and of course there were no posts and no members at that time. So to get it started, Doc posted one to each of the newly created message threads and then largely left it alone.
For Doc's opinions and research, view the web site pages. The forum was always intended as a place for everyone else to share their thoughts and experiences.
A year and a half later there are over 800 members and over 4,000 posts and fully half of the site's traffic is to this forum.
