Maybe a way to get some notice

Postby David Staup » Sun Mar 29, 2009 2:15 am

Although our numbers are relatively small and none of us have had any real responce going through the normal chanels (congressman etc.) I think we may be able to get noticed if we martial what numbers we can on local levels and "go after" the individual doctors or med centers.
If we combine as many sufferers and family members and peacefully protest in front of the individual offices I'm pretty sure we could get press coverage. I, for one, would be willing to travel some to be part of a group, we could plan several groups in large cities to simultaniously protest in front of very visable targets or marshal larger numbers at fewer locations etc. I've thought of a pretty good slogan for the protest signs:

"My doctor sold his soul and My health for sandwiches and seminars or maybe HIS drug of choice"

Before I was disabled I worked in the healthcare industry and know full well of the bribery that has been part of this. Shaming the individual doctors even one at a time may be our only way to to get coverage--what do you think

freedom without honor leads only to abuse.

I signed the petition but am not overly impressed. I think a direct approach on the lowest level-- the doctors -- would be more effective
and doing it withoud any demands for lawsuits makes it even more credable.

statin drugs

Postby gotts1936 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 1:33 pm

David, God! I wish you were a redneck. I am sorry , but shaming the thousands of individual doctors is not going to correct this evil situation. President Obama is going to provide control of the financial institutions of this nation and I think it is time to provide federal control of the drug companies.
Remember if a doctor gives a statin drug to a hundred patients and only 5 have problems, This doctor is happy because he has saved 95 patients from having a heart attack even if it is all smoke and mirrors.
Of all the capitalist companies in America the drug companies in America are the only companies that need socialistic control.
Rick.

Rick

who said anything about shamming thousands, I wrote of starting on the individual level--and letting the publisity from that snowball into the media.

again I am misunderstood here and causing others pain-- this will probably be my last post here

David, please do not drop out of sight. All of us appreciate your comments even if some of us may disagree with them. None of us know what is right. And, all of us are looking for solutions and you may have the answer.

Rick,
lets try and be a bit more constructive then.
maybe a suggestion of modifying an idea after you fully understand the original idea is the way to go. I still think trying to get publicity is the way to go--maybe my suggestion isn't the best but it's just that a suggestion to start the process of discussion which is the point here
