Doctors/Statin Drugs

I know how you feel about the doctors. I went through about 8 doctors, including specialists, in a 1 yr period, and spent over $30,000.00 out of pocket for tests, because no doctor was willing to believe that Crestor did this damage to me. Instead, I was tested for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lime Disease, West Nile Virus, Arthritis, Luekemia, Cancer, and every thing else under the sun, before I was finally able to convince a doctor to reasearch my symptoms with exact matches in medical journals, on the internet, etc.. He is finally convinced that I have statin related Myopaty, Myalgia, and Neuropathy, caused by the Crestor. Now I just have to see if he is willing to say it to others besides me. Even in my charts, he uses words like "likely caused by Crestor", and "I believe it could be caused by Crestor", even though he says to my face that it could not be anything else. The medical community needs to step up to the plate, and to remember their oath "First do no harm". It saddens me when I see doctors handing out samples, without knowing all of the possible effects of the drug, simply because, the drug reps took his whole office out to a fancy lunch in a limo, or because the doctor got an invite for a vacation, or golf trip. This does happen a lot more than you realize. I know an administrator in one office who told me that go out to lunch on the drug reps, an average of three days a week. I know that not all doctors are like this, but this should not be allowed to happen in any way, shape, or form. If this was going on in our government, it would be called a bribe. It should not be ok for anyone to do this, let alone the people who we trust or very lives and health to.
