Statins/Diabetes2/Eyes Correlation.

Postby manoflamancha » Wed May 07, 2008 4:25 pm

What might the correlation be between taking statins to lower cholesterol, developing diabetes2, and then developing a leison below the eye macula? I've been taking Lipitor 20mg for many years....and am trying to muster up the courage to wean myself from taking lipitor and substitute with a natural approach. About a year ago I was given the pejorative diagnosis of diabetic 2, and I refused to take any meds for that. Now the eye doc says I have a leison below the eye macula and wants me to see a lazer eye specialist. I have found nothing but negative stuff about zapping the eye with a laser. Do others see a correlation between all of this?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul: I too have developed a strange eye condition just two months ago. I was diagnosed with retino schesis (layering of the retina). I was told by three retina specialists that this condition is extremely rare and it was mystifying that I developed in both eyes! Now is this connected to my long term statin use or coincidence? Don't have any answers as usual. Not that it makes any difference, but thought I would add that I don't have diabetes.

If you learn more, please post information.
Thanks, Valgators
