Quote :

"Tort reform" is a deliberately deceptive term coined in the 1980s by tobacco, pharmaceutical, insurance and gun lobbyists and lawyers who set about to transform our civil justice landscape by eliminating corporate exposure to civil liabilities. After years of an all-out campaign, at the heart of which was relentless media propaganda, judicial selection and legislation, the courthouse doors are rapidly being closed to average citizens, who will be shunted off into a lucrative private legal system presided over by retired judges employed by alternative dispute-resolution providers.

" Tort Reform " will work if the finished product favors the customer (patient) and not either the capitalist or the socialist factions trying to control it.

Alas the customer/patient has no input into the reforming progress except through an elected politician.

Brian, are you saying the customer/patient is so ignorant that they do not know they should vote for a politician who will vote to support the desired results of a customer/patient favorable " Tort Reform" package?

I am saying the customer/patient has become dependent on politicians for redress.

Brian, unfortunately, the customer/patient has been dependent on politicians since the founding of this nation. This may be the fatal flaw of Democracy?

The fatal flaw of democracy is that it ends up as window dressing.

Brian, what the hell that mean? I don't think you know what fatal flaw of Democracy is. If you desire I will tell you. If not, no big deal, 95% of Americans don't know.

Democracy has a LOT of potential fatal flaws, with apathy either leading the list or darn close to it.

Democracy pretty muchs ends when The People realize they can vote for themselves money in the form of
any type of Government aid regardless what it is called (welfare, interest deduction, tax break, Social Security, etc.),
and then vote only for the politician willing to cater to their whim.

That's not democracy, that's addiction, and boy-oh-boy does this country have a LOT of addicts.

Gotts, we both know the unpalatable reality behind the facade.
Let's leave it at that.
