Lawmakers examine Web postings in Vytorin probe

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Anonymous messages posted on a Web site raise questions about the handling of data on a Merck & Co Inc (MRK.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Schering-Plough Corp (SGP.N: Quote, Profile, Research) cholesterol drug, two House of Representatives Democrats said on Monday.

I haven't received a response from Congressman Stupak except to say that thet had received my email (I also sent printed documentation via snail mail). Since I pointed out that Vytorin was the latest poison that I took, I am hopeful that my letter helped. Deb

I also stated that the FDA was investigating a connection between ALS and statin use. Perhaps this is the other info that they have requested. Let's keep our fingers crossed.....Deb

I'm doing my small part as well. Every little bit counts. We must also pick and choose our battles wisely. You'd be surprised the impact of these news pieces and stories, especially the latest Businessweek article. They are internally reverberating throughout the halls of these major pharmas. I know this to be true. They are slowly galvanizing a movement.

Make your voices heard and be counted, append your comments and statin side-effect stories to these hard-hitting pieces of journalism. Let them know we want more and greater statin-related stories to be told. We want our own stories to be acknowledged and documented. This is where we are having the biggest impact. Please take advantage, don't let these opportunities slip past. They might not always be there.

I just posted to *http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2008/02/12/do-statins-dull-the-minds-of-some-patients/?mod=googlenews_wsj
The post came up but after a few minutes it disappeared. I just said that statins are poison and they devastated my muscles. Someone must be deleting any further negative posts.

Jude: Left a longer message (derogatory) and had no real problem.
