Since statins cripple the body's ability to produce molecules essential for mitochondrial respiratory function (CoQ10 & Heme a) and reduce protein prenylation the mystery is why the side effects have remained "mysterious" for the past 20 or so years.

The TRUE mystery to probe it is how some fortunate individuals can apparently tolerate such insult over a number of years and still function normally.

Thanks for the links Peter. The truth is slowly seeping out.
I am sure it will gush out when Pfizer's atorvastatin patent expires in early 2011.

Nice post Peter,

I don't think that I have seen these ones before although some of the information seems familiar (maybe I read something else along these lines recently). The study so far has found that Lescol, Mevacor and Zocor (simvastatin) showed the worse outcome for problems caused by statins, but as seen on this site for example there are many people suffering from other statin use such as Lipitor for example, so the tests maybe needs altering to get the reactions that those drugs cause realised.

After statin therapy I am no longer sure whether I have read something, dreamt it or been told it, the good thing is that I can now save a fortune on films because the next time I watch a film again will be almost the same as it was the first time around, it's just a shame that any money I would have saved has to go on supplements to keep me going

Know EXACTLY what you mean re films Allen

I remember a study (but can't remember the details for the moment) which identified simvastatin as being particularly harmful regarding mitochondrial gene expression.

That's the one statin that is available without prescription here in the UK of course

I think that the drug industry may have joined forces with the film industry in an effort to get more money out of us even after we no longer buy the drugs first they take away our strength then give us lots of pain and then rob us of our ability to remember things or even think clearly. Never mind, I am off to buy that new film Tron or was it Chitty chitty bang bang?

You know that you don't have to be English to be eccentric or a little bit odd but Hey it definitely works for me
